This is the blog of the History Department of Durham University.

Durham University History Department is one of the leading centres in the UK for the study of History. We were ranked as the top UK History Department by the Complete University Guide in 2015 and by the Times and Sunday Times in 2013 and 2014, and second by the Guardian University Guide in 2015. Our research expertise and teaching provision extends from the early Middle Ages to contemporary history; from Britain and Europe (including Russia) to America, Africa and China; and across social, cultural, gender, visual, political and economic history.

All opinions expressed here are those of the posts’ individual authors, and do not represent the official view of the History Department.
